Do not let a hard year talk you out of what you are believing God for. You have prayed. You have stood on His Word. You have fought one battle after another. But the fact that you are tired does not mean the battle is lost. God is still able to answer your prayers, turn that situation around, and give you the victory.
Maybe the attacks have come so close together that you have hardly had time to catch your breath. You still believe God, but you know you have begun to let up. You are not praying like you were. You are spending less time in the Word. Saints, this is when we need to get back into the presence of God and let Him strengthen us.
I have to watch this in my own life. In ministry, you are praying for others and helping them through their battles while facing situations of your own. You can get weary. But we cannot afford to let weariness pull us away from the One who gives us strength. There are prayers we are still believing Him to answer. There is work He has called us to finish. We have got to get back in the fight.
GOD GIVES POWER TO THE FAINT
Isaiah 40:28 tells us that the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary. Then verse 29 says, “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”
That is good news for somebody who feels they have nothing left. God gives power to the faint. He strengthens people who are worn out.
You may be exhausted spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. You may sit down to read your Bible and struggle to stay awake. You want to pray, but your mind keeps wandering. God knows where you are, and His Word tells you where to turn.
Psalm 80:18 says, “Quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.” You can ask God to help you pray. Tell Him, “Lord, touch me. Strengthen me. I need Your help to press into the things of God.”
You do not have to pretend you have it all together. Come before Him honestly. The God who never gets weary knows how to strengthen you.
MAKE TIME ALONE WITH GOD
Isaiah 40:30 says, “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.” This battle can wear anybody out. But the next verse gives us the answer:
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Who will renew their strength? Those who wait upon the Lord.
You have to make time alone with Jesus. Put the phone aside. Clear some space in your schedule. Turn on worship music, open your Bible, and begin to pour your heart out to God.
Sometimes I have to wait in His presence while my mind is still running through everything I have to do. There are responsibilities, decisions, and things demanding my attention. But I have learned that I need to stay there and give God my attention.
Saints, nobody is so important that we should continually put God on hold. We need Him. We need His Word. We need that fellowship with Him every day.
STAY LONG ENOUGH TO BE STRENGTHENED
When you first begin to pray, you may feel distracted. You remember something you need to do. You look at the clock and wonder how only fifteen minutes have passed.
I have been there. But do not let those distractions convince you that you are wasting your time. Keep bringing your attention back to the Lord. Worship Him. Read the Scriptures. Talk to Him about what is on your heart.
There is an exchange that takes place in the presence of God. You come to Him weak, and He strengthens you. You come confused, and His Word gives you understanding. The burden you have been carrying is brought before your heavenly Father.
Think about an eagle spreading its wings and being carried by the wind. Isaiah says those who wait upon the Lord will mount up with wings as eagles. God knows how to lift you and give you strength to keep going.
This understanding changed my prayer life. When I began making time to wait before God, my relationship with Him deepened. The Word became more real to me.
GET BACK IN THE FIGHT
I know it is the end of the year. We have had a long year. We have had struggles. We have faced one attack after another, and we can be tempted to let up. But I want to encourage you: let’s finish strong. We are believing God for victory. We are believing Him for answers to prayer. The Bible says, “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
There is a harvest ahead. There is a reward for your faithfulness. Do not throw away your confidence because the battle has been long. Get back into the presence of God and let Him renew your strength. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep standing on His Word. We have not come this far to give up. Let’s finish strong! God will not disappoint your faith.
